Barefoot Retreats Burnham Market International (1) 2022 - order or view videos here
If the Easter Bunny is twitching his nose, it must be very nearly time for the Barefoot Retreats Burnham Market International Horse Trials
Running from Thursday 14th to Saturday 16th April, giving riders and horses a rare rest on Easter Sunday which is probably particularly welcome for those heading to Kentucky soon after, the entry list for the Norfolk 'Chelsea-on-Sea' event is packed with great riders and horses
Eight of the world’s current top ten riders have entries, with world number one Oliver Townend set to run three of his Badminton prospects – Tregilder, Swallow Springs and Olympic Team Gold medallist, Ballaghmor Class. He also has Paul Ridgeon’s promising mare Cooley Rosalent, winner of the CCI3*-S here last year, entered in the CCI4*-S
In total, more than 40 combinations on the start list are hoping to be bound for Badminton this spring – from first timers to the reigning champion, Piggy March who will be riding both Brookfield Inocent and Brookfield Quality in the 4*.
Piggy finished first and second in the two CCI-S 4* sections at this event last year riding Dargun and Badminton winner Vanir Kamira while her European gold medallist team mate Kitty King also had a first and second in the CCI4*-S sections last year and she is back with Vendredi Biats in the 4* this year
The International 3* and 4* classes start with dressage on Thursday and Friday followed by show jumping and cross country on Saturday
Thursday also sees the BE100, BE100 Open, Novice and Open Novice classes with more Novice, Intermediate, Open Intermediate and Advanced taking place on Friday
We're filming all competitors on cross country and bringing you updates on the website, plus our full subscriber-only special features. And don't forget to stay tuned to our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for video snippets and more during the event!
Kitty King and Vendredi Biats took second place last year - can they go one better this year?
