An Eventful Life is filming all competitors on cross country at
Barefoot Retreats Burnham Market International (1) - find out more here
The CCI4*-S line up at this year’s Barefoot Retreats Burnham Market International (1) Horse Trials, to be held from 14th – 16th April, is not only massive but also packed with eventing stars.
Following the withdrawal of many Badminton-bound combinations from the Eventing Spring Carnival at Thoresby Park, we will now get another chance to see their form in the 4* and Advanced classes here.
Burnham Market specialist Oliver Townend, the man with a remarkable 15 CCI4* wins at this event, has Tregilder (withdrawn from Kentucky but still listed for Badminton), Swallow Springs and Ballaghmor Class in the CCI4* Section B. That may give an indication of the two he intends to ride at Badminton and we’re guessing they’re both greys.
Australia’s Bill Levett, who didn’t go cross country at Thoresby, is competing his two Badminton entries in the Section B – Huberthus AC and RNH Tom Tom R - and Kevin McNab also has Scuderia 1918 Don Quidam, initially listed for Kentucky but then withdrawn. Could Kevin instead be part of the Australian crack team for Millstreet to try and gain Paris 20204 qualification?
Germany’s Dirk Schrade has withdrawn Casino 80 from the Badminton list, but they will be competing in the CCI4*-S Section B1 which also sees multiple Badminton entries, including defending champion Laura Collett riding London 52 and Dacapo, Ros Canter on Pencos Crown Jewel and Lordships Graffalo and Thoresby 4* winners Emily King on Valmy Biats
The weather is looking kind for the three days of competition that will see competitors taking part at all levels from BE100 to Advanced national classes as well as the CCI3*-S and CCI4*-S classes.
