Bede Events have announced a new format for the 4-Year-Old competition at Osberton International Horse Trials in October
“After consultation with riders, changes have been made to the 4-Year-Old competition” says Stuart Buntine, BEDE Events “The format has been changed to encourage the best 4YO’s to come forward to showcase at the Young Horse Championships”
Stuart is excited about this new concept “It will be great to be able to see the best of tomorrow’s talent showcased in a format that enhances their educational journey”
A new dressage test written specifically for the event and there will be the introduction of a combined show jumping and cross country test, which will include a water jump, ditch and many other natural fences to show the cross country element of the test.
Horses will be awarded good marks for the dressage and for potential and general impression in all phases. The horse with the highest good marks will win and, in the case of an equality, general impression and potential marks will decide the winner (with weight given to jumping marks)
BEDE will be welcoming Caunton Manor Stud back to Osberton as the title sponsors for the Young Horse classes.
“As one of the foremost sport horse breeding studs, it has been exciting to see many of their foals being born over the past few weeks” says Stuart, who emphasises that “We are working with British Eventing to ensure that we can run the event that provides a safe environment for competitors, owners and their teams”
The new format 4-Year-Old competition will take place at Osberton International Horse Trials on Thursday 8th October
Osberton International Horse trials will run during the second week of October from 7th – 11th October 2020. As well as hosting the Caunton Manor Stud Young Event Horse Championships, the event will run CCI3*L and CCI2*L competitions.
