Barbury (1) Grassroots Horse Trials & Cotswold Cup Qualifier 2024 – view or order XC Videos here
The Cotswold Cup, a popular series of unaffiliated events across the Cotswolds and surrounding areas, has, like many other competitions early this season, not had much luck with the weather.
Three of its first four competitions had to be cancelled due to waterlogged ground but it is full steam ahead for this weekend’s fixture at Barbury Castle in Wiltshire. Hosted by Musketeer Events and held on the beautiful rolling hills of Barbury Castle, this grassroots eventing competition also hosts the sixth qualifying round of the Cotswold Cup.
Thankfully the ground at Barbury, which previously hosted top level British Eventing competitions, is renowned for its well-draining chalk soil and the forecast is for mainly sunny conditions, so competitors will get a great run in this weekend.
The Cotswold Cup returns to Barbury in July and Musketeer Events will also be hosting the Series Final at Cirencester Park on 27th – 29th September. Two of the leaders on the League Tables will be competing at Barbury this weekend with well-known rider Melissa Joannides riding Australis, currently leading the 80S league after a first and second place at the only two events run so far this year, and Pippa Krzywiec riding Rosedale Misty Morning, both competing here.
We are filming all horses and riders on cross country at Barbury and will be back with a wrap up next week!
