Bishop Burton College in Beverley, East Yorkshire hosts the first of its British Eventing competitions this weekend with the Bishop Burton (1) Horse Trials taking place on 25th & 26th May 2024.
The venue that hosts the CCI Youth Championships each year in late July offers national level British Eventing classes from BE90 to Open Intermediate at the event this weekend, but the younger riders are catered also for with an Open Novice U18 class.
Sunday’s Open Intermediate and Novice classes have attracted two recent CCI5* winners with the 2023 Maryland 5* winner Austin O’Connor (IRE) and 2024 Badminton winner Caroline Powell (NZL) bringing their up-and-coming stars, including another ‘Greenacres Special’ horse for Caroline with the seven-year-old Greenacres Special Touch in the Novice – could this be a future Badminton winner like his stablemate?
The event is popular thanks to its cross country course designed by Joe Weller which runs across the College parklands while showjumping is held on a large outdoor all-weather arena.
The BE90 and BE100 classes, including a GO BE90 and GO BE100 section, will be held on Saturday with the exception of the BE100 Section N, which takes place on Sunday.
