Blair Castle International is back in 2021

France's Astier Nicolas, team gold and individual silver medallist at Rio 2016, became the Scottish Champion by winning the CCI4*-S at Blair Castle 2019

Following last season's decimation of the British eventing calendar, including the loss of Blair Castle International, the Blair team is hard at work in Scotland ensuring that the 2021 event exceeds all expectations. Whilst there will be no Country Fair this year, Blair's fabulous shopping village will be in situ. New equine classes will also be showcased this year, opening up the opportunity for more amateur riders to compete at this prestigious and iconic event.

The 2021 FEI Land Rover Blair Castle International Horse Trials will run from 26th - 29th August, so the equestrian competitions at the Tokyo Olympic Games will be done and dusted by the start of the event, hopefully giving all eventing supporters an opportunity to celebrate one or more podium places in Japan. Who knows, the next Olympic champion could be amongst the runners and, although most of us will be unable to get to Tokyo, Blair Castle is the next best thing!

Some of the best horse and rider combinations in the world regularly perform in front of the breathtaking Blair Castle. Following the loss of both British Five Star events for a second year, the demanding terrain of the Scottish highlands is one of very few places where riders can test the resilience so necessary to horse and rider combinations for the very top, five star, level.

With Covid restrictions still in place – and always subject to change – spectators will be welcome but ticket numbers are currently limited to 5,000 per day, so book early to ensure you are not disappointed. Tickets will not be available on the gate.

Despite the restrictions, Land Rover Blair Castle International Horse Trials is a perfect place to celebrate the best of equestrianism, perhaps tying in a visit with a longer holiday in this stunning part of the world. There is so much to see and do in Scotland, why not make it a final summer vacation for 2021?

Event Director, Alec Lochore, commented: “Whilst the last 18 months have been challenging, we are fortunate to have one of the most iconic and welcoming event venues in the UK"

"The Horse Trials, along with its additional classes, will be offering amateur sport alongside that of world class competitors, and of course Scotland is famous for its superb food, drink and hospitality. This year, more than ever with overseas travel restrictions in place, grab the opportunity for a fabulous few days in the stunning Scottish Highlands.”
