The Barefoot Estates Burnham Market International takes place this weekend, from Thursday 13th - Saturday 15th April with over 700 horses representing sixteen nations due to compete over the three days in North West Norfolk
National classes from BE100 to Advanced will be held but the crowds will be most interested in the eventing stars who are taking part in the two international classes, the CIC2* and CIC3*. Olympic medallists including New Zealand’s Sir Mark Todd and Blyth Tait, Australia’s Andrew Hoy and Great Britain’s Zara Tindall will be competing as are up and coming stars such as Willa Newton, Will Furlong and Emily King
The CIC3* also hosts the second leg of the Shearwater Insurance Tri-Star Grand Slam, a unique series offers a ‘winner-takes-all’ prize fund of £50,000 for any rider who can win three of the five CIC3* events included in the competition (Belton International, Burnham Market International, Houghton International, Burgham International and the NAF Five Star Hartpury International)
At the first leg Izzy Taylor was the first British rider to win at Belton since 2012 and she will be heading to Burnham Market this week to try and secure the second leg with the £50,000 bonus in her sights.
However she will have to take on Oliver Townend who will again be defending his succession of wins in the Barefoot Estates Burnham Market International's headline class. He will certainly be giving it his best shot with four horses entered including last year's winner Cooley Master Class and the 2014 winner Black Tie II
As well as the eventing action there is plenty to keeps the spectators busy with terrier racing, bungee tramples, bouncy castles and circus workshops and over 50 trade stands for shopaholics. On Easter Saturday the competition hots up with the East Anglian Air Ambulance Charity Camel Racing - definitely not to be missed.
