An Eventful Life is filming all competitors on cross country at
Cirencester Park (2) Horse Trials 2023 - find out more here
With events dropping like flies in the UK due to wet weather and wet ground conditions yet again, it seems that Cirencester Park (2) Horse Trials may be the place to be this weekend. So much so that the event has added an extra day on Monday 1st May, meaning there are now three days of competition from Saturday 29th April – Monday 1st May.
Cirencester Park is tantalisingly close to the Badminton Estate – just 30 minutes away – and there’s a strong ‘past and present’ Badminton feel to the entry list. Local rider and son of three-time Badminton winner, Richard Meade, Harry Meade won’t have far to go to either event, and he’s taking one of his current Badminton entries, Tenareze, for a run around the Open Intermediate on Saturday at Cirencester Park.
Jonelle Price and Piggy March, both past Badminton winners, aren’t competing at the big event this year but have several horses entered here at Cirencester, including Piggy’s lovely grey Halo in the Advanced class on Sunday.
There is also a Six-Year-Old class on Sunday, which showcases not only some young equine talent but also some more past Badminton winners in the saddle. Mary King, Andrew Nicholson and Sam Griffiths have all lifted the coveted Badminton trophy and all three will be riding young horses in the Six-Year-Old class.
Along the same theme, the daughter of another Badminton winner, Ellie Fredericks will be riding Kalico in this class and Greta Mason will be riding Rule Britannia II, a direct descendent of Lucinda Fredericks’ Badminton winning mare, Headley Britannia.
We’re filming all competitors and cross country on all three days and don't forget to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for video snippets and more during the event!
