More than 300 horses from 18 countries competed in the second leg of the Strzegom Summer Tour from Thursday 16th of July, taking part in four short-format classes and a 2* class for ponies where Michael Jung won both the CCI4*-S and CCI3*-S classes
Germany’s Michael Jung went into the Strzegom Summer Tour as the favourite of the CCI4*-S class and he didn’t disappoint, performing flawlessly in all three phases. Riding the 12-year-old fischerChipmunk FRH, he scored an impressive 19.4 in the dressage, then produced a clear cross-country course, the only one inside the time, and took the win with a faultless show jumping round.
"Three weeks ago in Luhmühlen I had a great jumping feeling for the first time with Chip and today he was able to confirm it at a higher level. We've been working a lot on jumping and switching over the last year. It's nice to realize how he can implement it now" said Michael on his Facebook page of the horse previously ridden by his team mate Julia Krajewski
Dutch rider Raf Kooremans with Dimitri N.O.P. finished second after jumping clear and third place went to Lea Siegl (AUT) riding Fighting Line.
Poland’s Mateusz Kiempa riding Libertina, who was second after dressage, gained penalty points with time in the cross-country and also had one down in the jumping, finishing in 23rd place and Paweł Spisak riding Banderas, fourth after the cross country, didn’t have a great day in the show jumping with four rails and time penalties dropping them to 27th place

Michael dominated not just the 4* class; he brought three horses to the show and was on the podium with each of them. He won the CCI3* with the 8-year-old fischerWild Wave despite a rail in the show jumping and was third in the same class with Go For S. Second place went to Lea Siegl (AUT) with van Helsing P thanks to a clear round in the cross country and jumping moving her up from 14th place after dressage.
The highest-ranked Polish pair of the class was Julia Gillmaier and Quinton 1, in 17th place after dressage who finished the cross-country a few seconds over and was clear in the show jumping for 8th place.
85 horses competed in the two-star class with Poland’s Mateusz Kiempa riding Pitagoras, fourth after dressage and securing his win with clear show jumping and cross country rounds. The next two places went to German riders, Sonja Buck with Carla Bruni R and Vanessa Bölting riding Ready To Go W.
The winner of the CCIP2*-L class was Matti Garlichs from Germany with Andante D. Kato De Smidt (NED) in second riding Orchid’s Tigersun, and Emilia Vogel (GER) took home third place with Tina. The only Polish pair in the class – Julia Witkowska with Chester – finished 9th
The one-star Intro class belonged to Levi Cordes (GER) with Calesco 3. Second place went to his teammate Carlo Klippel with Carismo 22, and Sterre van Houte (NED) riding Guapo 29 was third.
