Andrew and Abigail Turnbull are into their second year of owning Richmond Equestrian Centre and have plenty of great plans
An Eventful Life filmed all competitors on cross country at
Richmond (1) - find out more here
Following their purchase of the Richmond Equestrian Centre last year, Andrew and Abigail Turnbull made their debut as event organisers with Richmond Horse Trials in September last year.
Richmond has always been a popular British Eventing venue, with great outdoor all-weather surface arenas used for the horse trials and a wonderful cross country course on rolling pasture designed by Jamie Innes Ker and Moray Nicholson, but Andrew and Abigail aren’t resting on the event’s existing laurels
We have our full report coming up from Richmond (1), held from 3rd – 5th May, but in the meantime, here is Andrew and Abigail chatting with Helena Barras about changes made for this year and exciting future plans
For those in the area looking for some great cross country schooling in the next couple of weeks, the majority of the 90, 100 and Novice courses will be open most days from Monday 6th May – Sunday 19th May at a cost of £30 per horse (please call or text 07779 282 665 or 07980 085 165 to check times of opening)
Richmond (2) runs from 30th August – 1st September and, as you’ve just heard there will be lots of new features, including the new water complex, and we’ll be back filming all riders on course as well as bringing you coverage from the event
Once again the trade stands will form a hub near the cross country, providing a perfect spot to watch the riders start out, grab some delicious home cooked food from Davina Lovegreen Catering (the BEST bacon and egg roll we’ve tasted for ages; all their meat is reared and produced less than three miles away, you can’t get more local than that!) and survey the course
