Izzy Taylor has had a great start to her defence of last year’s British Open Championship title at this year’s Magic Millions Festival of British Eventing.
Izzy, riding her 2017 winner of the World Young Horse Championship at Le Lion d’Angers Monkeying Around, leads after the dressage phase of the CCI4*-S British Open Championship with a score of 23.3, ahead of Pippa Funnell on Billy Walk On (24.8) and Oliver Townend on his 5* winner Cooley Master Class (25.4)
The eight-year-old Monkeying Around who can be ‘quite cheeky’ produced a lovely test which his rider was delighted with
Australia’s Chris Burton led the class at the lunch break with a score of 27 on the German-produced 12-year-old mare Lawtown Chloe, who finished the day in sixth place. Last year Chris won this class although the British Championship title went to Izzy as the highest placed British rider and we caught up with him after his dressage test
