Karin and Jalapeno finished last year on a good note with fourth in the CIC2* at Pau and has now started 2017 on a high
Belgium’s Karin Donckers had a good first weekend at Barroca D’Alva in Portugal, the sunny event that traditionally kicks off the international eventing season.
The 9 year old Jalapeno by Chilli Morning that was bred by Nick Gauntlett and now owned by Chris Stone (also Chilli’s owner) won the CIC2*
Karin not only won on Jalapeno (44.2) but also came a close second (45.1) on the 11 year old mare Lady Brown, who started with a better dressage score and double clear cross country but had one rail in the show jumping. Finland’s Elmo Jankari and Duchess Desiree finished in third place on 45.9 and Karin also took sixth place on Hamilton
As if that wasn’t enough of a good start to the season, Karin also picked up the winner’s rug riding the stallion No Limit VDB Z in the CIC1* and fourth place on Un Amour De Texo. Not a bad start to his international career for the very attractive stallion owned by the Belgian Olympic eventer Carl Bouckaert. The Netherlands Elaine Penn took second place on Chivers and another Belgian rider Geoffroy de Jambline on Consequent Pia Z was third
As Karin says on her Facebook page, “The eventing season could not start better!”
