Daisy Berkeley, the Intermediate Novice winner at Larkhill Horse Trials 2024, is back this year, no doubt hoping to repeat her victory but also hoping for better weather!

While her 2024 winner Ballintenskin Cooper S won’t be defending his title, his stablemate, and last year’s runner-up here with Daisy, Diese Du Figuier will be competing in the Intermediate Novice class on Friday. The 12-year-old French bred gelding went on to have a very successful year, with wins and placings culminating in the runner-up in the CCI4*-L at Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials.

We recently found out more about Hong Kong’s Yuxuan Su, who is aiming for the FEI Asian Championships this year and has two entries in the Intermediate Novice and we’ve also spotted a couple of Kiwi names in the top class with Nick Brooks riding Lucky Jo Jo and Vicky Browne-Cole riding Silken Icon.

Larkhill Horse Trials, sponsored by Parker Bullen Solicitors, is running over three days from Friday 4th – Sunday 6th April with the Intermediate Novice, Novice and Open Novice classes running on Friday alongside BE90 and BE100. Saturday sees more BE100 and Novice classes, including an Open Novice U18 and Pony Trial Novice while Sunday sees mainly BE90 competitors enjoy their run around the Larkhill Racecourse on Salisbury Plain.

And, if you think that competing at BE100 is low level stuff, check out the entry list - it’s a Who’s Who of eventing! William Fox-Pitt (Patron of Larkhill) and Andrew Nicholson may not be competing at high levels anymore but, if you want to see masters in action, check them out in the BE100 at Larkhill, along with Jonelle Price, Tina Cook, Tim Price, Laura Collett, Clarke Johnstone and Kevin McNab, just to name a few!

And, as Daisy told us last year, “Larkhill has a great spectator friendly course” so why not head down and watch these great riders! Entry is free, there’s food and drinks available and the weather is looking very pleasant!

An Eventful Life is filming all competitors on cross country and we’ll be providing daily updates and a full wrap up next week on the website. Plus keep an eye on our socials for video snippets and more
