An Eventful Life is filming all competitors on cross country at Little Downham - full details here
Little Downham Horse Trials, located just outside of Ely in Cambridgeshire, yet again welcomes a star studded line up of International eventing stars to their first event of the season, which will also see the event make a donation of over £5,000 to the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
The British Eventing affiliated event, taking place from the 2nd - 4th June, sees entrants from 10 nations, featuring former winners, Olympic medallists and CCI4* competitors. Amongst the British contingent entered, Sarah Bullimore brings forward Lilly Corinne and Francis Whittington with numerous rides across the weekend including the exciting 9 year old Carlchen that recently placed third in the Chatsworth International CIC***.
Following their recent Badminton Horse Trials success Ros Canter and Imogen Murray also head to Little Downham with a number of young up and coming rides.
Former Little Downham Advanced winners Izzy Taylor and Ludwig Svennestal, both have entries in Friday’s Advanced class. The Little Downham Advanced provides an educational and inviting track, with fantastic viewing for spectators, allowing fans and followers of the sport to get close to the action.
Notorious for being difficult to achieve the time, only two riders have made the cross country time in the Little Downham Advanced since its start in 2010, and they’ve done it twice each. Mark Kyle and Coolio did it when they won in 2012 and then again with Step In Time II in 2015, again taking the win. Izzy Taylor could make it three Little Downham wins and three (or more) inside the time following her wins and FODs (finished on dressage) with KBIS Briarlands Matilda in 2013 and with Be Touchable in 2015.
Olympic medallist Ludwig Svennestal (SWE) last won the Little Downham Advanced in 2013 with King Bob, 2017 sees him bring forward Franzipan, his own 13-year-old 3* mare.
Event organiser, owner and course designer, Tina Ure, will also present a cheque to the East Anglian Air Ambulance, for in excess of £5,000 during Friday’s prize giving. The charity provides such an incredible and vital service to the area and has been used by Little Downham Horse Trials on a number of occasions. The event is therefore pleased to be able to offer its support with such a sizeable donation. Further fund raising for the charity will be in operation during the event.
Little Downham Horse Trials is free to attend for all spectators, with charity donations gratefully received upon entry.
