Alnwick Ford International Horse Trials 2023 - order or view videos here
It was indeed a good day at the office for Oliver Townend at Alnwick Ford International Horse Trials on Friday 23rd Day (appropriately Olympic Day)
The Tokyo 2020 gold medallist had headed to Northumberland with several horses and ended up with, amongst other placings, a win and second place in the CCI2*-S, riding Hialiska De Tacam and Farngann Des Loges.
The win on the six-year-old mare with ‘5* potential’ follows up a second place at Belsay CCI2*, giving him a very good chance of winning the Northumberland Challenge prize pot.
Sponsored by AW Jenkinson Forest Products, Encon Technical Solutions and NIS Group Services Construction Ltd, the Northumberland Challenge runs across three events in Northumberland at Belsay International, Alnwick Ford International and Burgham International (27-31 July), providing the opportunity to win cash bonuses of up to £20,000 for winning or being placed in the CCI2*-S and £25,000 for winning or being placed in the CCI3*-S. So, all to play for Burgham!
Mark Davidson riding Fonbherna Lancer just pipped Oliver to the CCI3* win on Friday. There are two more days of great British eventing coming up at Alnwick Ford over the weekend and we’ll be back next week with a full wrap up.
In the meantime, we're filming all competitors on cross country and don't forget to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for video snippets and more!
