Ireland’s Padraig McCarthy wrested the Indoor Cross Country title away from France at the the Geneva International Horse Show (CHI) on Saturday 8th December at Palexpo.
The past four Indoor Cross Country competitions held at Geneva CHI have all been taken by French riders but Padraig, dual silver medallist at this year’s World Equestrian Games, broke their hold on board Rosemaber Lancuest, winning the Swiss CIX competition at their first ever indoor start
Britain’s Alex Bragg riding Alcatraz held the lead after the first gallop around the course which runs over two arenas comprising natural obstacles, banks and the lake but moved down to second when Padraig was closest to the optimum time in the second round.
The French didn’t go away empty handed with Maxime Livio taking third place on Boleybawn Prince and the 2017 winner Karim Florent Laghouag on Punch de l´Esques in fourth
