The Richmond Cup 2022 & Pony Club Area 2 Eventing

In view of the Met Office’s extreme heat weather warning for Sunday 17 July, Richmond Equestrian Centre has decided to reschedule all competition that day.

Sunday’s entries for the Richmond Cup & Pony Club 90, 100 & 100+ classes are now being moved to Saturday 16th where possible or refunds provided

“We understand this will be a huge disappointment to some people, but we feel it would be irresponsible to ignore the amber weather warning of extreme heat and expose both horses and people to unnecessary risk” says Abigail Turnbull

“Although we are still finalising the timetable, we anticipate that Saturday’s event will run from approximately 8am until 5pm, with extra provision made to help ensure that both horses and people can take part safely”

The courses can all be walked from Friday at 2pm and Richmond advises that:

  • Upon arrival with your horses - take note of the water points;
  • Please be sure to bring water buckets/sponges/electrolytes;
  • All water points will be clearly labelled, with the 10,000 litre water bowser available for filling buckets - located at the XC finish - we also have 1,000 litre IBC tanks on the courses;
  • Our Vet will be stationed on the cross country course
  • People
  • Drink plenty of water
  • No jackets required for competitors (shoulders must be covered and hats and body protectors must be worn as per rules)

It may only be one day of competition but it will be a great day! Good luck everyone and have fun!
