The BE80 and some BE90 classes took place on Saturday at the Protect My Income Kelsall Hill (2)
The BE80 Regional Final was one of the important classes, as a qualifier for the BE80(T) Championships, which have been blighted by cancellations, including the much-anticipated inaugural Championships at Burghley this year, but fingers crossed for 2021
Shirley Cadwallader riding the seven-year-old The Sauce Pot won the highly contested Regional Final and qualification. They added 3.6 time penalties on cross country to finish on 30.1 but a good dressage score of 26.5 kept them ahead of Georgina Hodson riding Redinagh Clover (30.6) and Julie Cloves riding Dunbeggan Island Mist (31)
Sophie Jennings riding Doncorde, Cerys Jones riding Branchfield Mona and Alex Smith riding Hexlaire won the BE80(T) sections N, O and P but it was a close thing in Section P with Alex and Lesley Mitton both finishing on their dressage scores of 26 and Alex just sealing the deal with closest to the optimum time on cross country
Andrew James and Harthill Heraldik
Andrew James’ well-bred Harthill Heraldik took her second win this month, backing up a win in the BE90 at Stafford earlier this month by winning the BE90 Open class here but this was another tight finish with Tyler Cassells on Jeremiah and Richard Long on Carrabawn Kid both finishing on 27.5 for third and fourth places
Maddie Maher riding Willoway Talk of the Town, Kane Phillips riding Gurraun Catch Up and Katie Pollock riding Caerini Dum Dum Diddle (who also wins name of the day) won the BE90 Sections I, J and K
Tomorrow the remaining BE90 competitors return and the BE100 classes wrap up this year’s event
