Portugal Winter Tour Week 1 Wrap Up here
The second leg of the Portugal Winter Tour, taking place from 25th – 28th November at Barroca d’Alva saw Britain’s Ben Hobday and Germany’s Andreas Dibowski take the top two classes
Andreas riding the nine-year-old Brennus won the CCI3*-S which had 15 entries from several countries. Andreas won on a score of 34.1, several penalties ahead of Brazil’s Marcio Carvalho Jorge riding Joly Jumper (40.8) and Spain’s Francisco Gavino Gonzalez on board Source De La Fay (43.3)
Portugal and Sweden rounded out the top six with Manuel Grave riding Carat De Bremoy and Ludwig Svennerstal on board Jumble. The only Australian entry, Catherine Burrell riding Duke withdrew after the show jumping
Ben Hobday had two horses in the CCI2* class which attracted 15 entries and he ended up with both in the top four. Ben won the class on board the seven-year-old Shadow Seahorse, completing on their dressage score of 29.9 and took fourth place on the six-year-old mare Shadow Star Quality, also finishing on her dressage score of 32.5
Spain’s Albert Hermosa Farras also had two in the top four, taking second place (30.6) riding Quilate 32 53 and third (31.3) on Grytsen Z. Marcio Carvalho Jorge took fifth place riding Lovelocks Rumplestiltskin while Australia’s Andrew Hoy was riding Brigant in this class for 11th place
Ben added to his Portugal bag of goodies by also winning the CCI1* on his Burghley Young Horse winner, Shadow Kingsman this weekend and had taken a second place in the CCI4*-S on Shadow Man during Week 1.
Andrew Hoy finished in fifth and sixth places in this week’s CCI1* on Oso Monolitas and Byebye Brisquenouille and gave a little wrap up from the final, somewhat wet, last day on Instagram. His video riding Oso Monolitas is above
