An Eventful Life is filming all competitors on cross country at
Osberton International & Young Horse Championships 2022
After the first day of competition at Osberton International Bubby Upton, Kevin McNab and Sarah Squires lead the three British Young Horse Championship classes sponsored by the Howden Way
Bubby and It’s Cooley Time lead the 7-Year-Old Championship with a score of 25.5 ahead of Kitty King riding Orgue Verdi (26.7) and Australia’s Bill Levett on board Shannondale Archie (27.3)
In the 6-Year-Old Championship, last year’s winner of the CCI3*-L here, Kevin McNab leads with Sophia Von Moltke’s Faro Imp, a new ride for Kevin this year who has pulled out one of his best scores this year at the right time. They are currently ahead of Tom McEwen riding Monbeg Equity and Caroline Harris riding Pepper Dream, both on the same score of 28.3

Our pick for the 5-Year-Old Championship, Ros Canter riding Silvesters Finess, is currently in second place on a score of 28.5 but it is Sara Squires riding Van Kaunitz who currently lead on 27.9, coming here on very good form with two 5-Year-Old wins at Wellington and Solihull. Kitty King is in the mix here too with MBF Redhouse Evoque in third place on 29.6
The 4-Year-Old Showcase, sponsored by Springfield Stud wrapped up on Thursday with Andy Heffernan riding Millfield Bambalina taking the top honours (164.5). Horses in this class completed a dressage test before tackling eight show jumps and then straight onto the ‘cross country’ with water and banks at BE90 level. Becky Hartley riding Loughview Verdis Dream took second place (152.75) and Ginnie Turnbull riding Tom Collins took third place (151)

There are also two long-format classes with the Investec CCI2*-L currently led by Oliver Townend riding Finley Du Loir with a score of 25 ahead of Saffron Cresswell riding Vivendi Hero (27.2) and Sophie Van Der Merwe riding Milchem Page in third (28.5)
The Bede Events CCI3*-L is headed up by Michael Owen on board Treworder (27.7) but two of Pippa Funnell’s proteges are chasing with Wesko Foundation’s Harry Mutch on board HD The One in second place (28.4) and the USA’s Caroline Martin in third (28.7) riding Redfield Champion
The long format classes continue with another day of dressage on Friday while the 5, 6 and 7 Year Old classes head out on cross country.
