Sweden International Horse Show is launching the Agria Top 10 Indoor Eventing - a brand-new international top competition for the world’s best eventing riders.
The ‘Top 10’ is a well-established concept within jumping and the prestigious Top 10 Dressage, launched at Sweden International Horse Show in 2017, has similarly become a big success among both athletes and audience. So it is about time for eventing to now get its own Top 10-contest.
The crowds at Sweden International Horse Show are no strangers to indoor eventing as this action-packed competition has been a popular part of Sweden International Horse Show since 2014. The organiser, together with Agria Pet Insurance, is now developing the concept further. Agria Top 10 Indoor Eventing covers two classes with a warm-up on Thursday November 24 and the final on Sunday November 27. The ten best eventing riders in the world are invited to compete along with two wild cards.
“We are thrilled to get this world event in eventing to Sweden. The Swedish audience get to see the world’s very best eventing riders in a Swedish arena. The Indoor Eventing format offers the crowds a unique possibility to watch these athletes take on an entire course and see how they tackle the different challenges. This event will give both the sport and our Swedish horses and riders a boost” says Fredrik Bergendorff, Chef d'equipe Swedish Eventing.
“An international Top 10 competition for Indoor Eventing is very exciting. That means we can prolong our season and with the indoor format we can show our sport to a broader audience. I hope I will get an invitation, because I would really like to come to Friends Arena and this top competition” says the USA’s Boyd Martin
In addition to the competition, visitors can enjoy eventing clinics at the Sweden International Horse Show fair arena. On Sunday 27th of November, the fair arena programme is focusing on eventing where several well-established eventing riders and profiles will share their knowledge and inspiration.
“We are so looking forward to launching Agria Top 10 Indoor Eventing. This will make our competition programme even more complete as we now have international competitions at top level in as many as five disciplines” says Christin Ericsson, Event Director Sweden International Horse Show.
