Oasby (2) Horse Trials 2024 – order or view XC Videos here
Willa Newton entered three classes at the 2024 Oasby (2) Horse Trials on Saturday 19th October and won all three!
Based just 30 minutes from Oasby, Willa is a regular competitor at BEDE Events competitions but this would have to be one to remember as the UK season draws to a close. Willa won both Intermediate sections, taking the Intermediate Section A riding the 10-year-old Irish bred Jenny’s Quality, at just their second start together, ahead of Imogen Murray riding Camaro and another local, Ros Canter on Armscote Explorer.
The Intermediate Section B win came on board another recent addition to Willa’s stable in Shadow Kingsman, a horse previously campaigned by Ben Hobday, that Willa started competing in September. They finished almost five penalties ahead of second placed Eliza Bell riding Magical Touch and Daniella Johnstone in third place on Penny Black X.
Willa’s third win came on board another horse with a very similar name – Kingsman (rather like James Bond, he drops the prefix) – who won the Open Novice Section G on their dressage score of 24.3. Well done Willa!
It was a good day for Katie Magee too, with her horse Enceladus taking the sole Open Intermediate section as well as Springhead Jupiter winning the Novice Section F and Coco Lani won the Open Intermediate U21.
While Saturday was focussed on the Intermediate and Novice classes, Sunday will be all about the lower levels with competitors coming forward for the BE90 and BE100 classes. We’ll be back with a full report, more photos and cross country videos later in the week!
