The entry list at Oasby (1) is a who’s who of eventing with Friday being the big day for the Open Intermediate and Intermediate classes. The Lincolnshire event that opens and closes the British Eventing season runs over four days with Novice, BE100, Pony Trials and BE90 classes taking place on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday and six classes of Intermediate/Open Intermediate punctuated at the end of the day by a Novice class on Friday

Piggy French, Izzy Taylor and Ibby Macpherson won the three Open Intermediate sections here last year and all three ladies are back this year with Izzy and Piggy bringing a raft of horses across the levels. Oliver Townend will be a busy man with 16 rides booked across the weekend ranging from his international level horses, Cillnabradden Evo and Cooley Master Class to the babies, two of which, Sligo Candyman and Nelson De La Pomme have already picked up wins at their first event of the season at Aston-Le-Walls (1)

Oasby (1) is the first leg of the 2019 TriStar Eventing Series with the Novice classes offering points for the Fairfax Saddles Novice League (0pen to all riders who have not competed a 5*, previously 4*, level in the last 10 years) and riders in the BE90 and BE100 levels who have never ridden at Intermediate level able to earn points for the Saracen Horse Feeds Grass Roots Bursary

Lincolnshire enjoyed some lovely spring weather before the arrival of Storm Freya so the team at BEDE Events have made the most of it in February to prepare for the many riders about to descend on the popular event, known for its inviting cross country course, just perfect to knock away those winter cobwebs. The general outlook is now for a cooler few days, especially on the weekend with gusty conditions but with sunny spells and showers on Thursday and Friday. Wrap up warm and have a great few days at Oasby!
