As the delayed season in Britain approaches, International level events in Australia and the USA took place last weekend with three-time Australian International 3 Day Event winner, Hazel Shannon and Willingapark Clifford winning the CCI4*-S at Tamworth International in Australia (more about that coming soon) and Marilyn Little riding RF Scandalous taking the CCI4*-S at the 2021 Red Hills International Horse Trials.

Sadly, the Horse of the Year CCI4*-S scheduled to take place at Hastings, New Zealand was cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions

In the USA, Marilyn Little had a good preparation for the coming CCI5* at Kentucky with a strong performance in dressage and two clean jumping phases to finish on their dressage score of 22.4, well ahead of second placed Colleen Loach

Riding Peter Barry’s 17-year-old Qorry Blue D’Argouges Colleen had a great cross-country run that moved her up to take second place on a score of 33.2 while Leslie Law riding Voltaire De Tre took third place on 33.8, moving up from 15th place after dressage

“He’s an absolute joy to ride cross-country,” said Leslie “Over the years I’ve ridden a lot of horses, in Olympic games, in world championships, in European championships, and I think he has to be one of the best cross-country horses I’ve ever ridden.” Which is saying quite a lot considering the horses he has ridden! Leslie told us more about Voltaire De Tre in an interview at Kentucky in 2019

Leslie also took second place riding Lady Chatterley in the CCI3*-S, which was won by Tamra Smith riding Solaguayre California, following up her lucrative win in the Grand Prix Eventing at Aiken last weekend.

The CCI2*-s was won by Alyssa Phillips on her own Cornelius Bo
