Tamie Smith, seen here with Mai Baum at Pratoni 2022, is listed with three horses
US Equestrian (USEF) has named seven horse and rider combinations with ‘demonstrated medal-winning potential at the next World Championships or Olympic Games’ to the 2023 US Eventing Elite Program
The 2022 World Championship silver medal team riders, Will Coleman, Tamie Smith, Lauren Nicholson and Boyd Martin and individual rider Ariel Grald are joined by Olympic medallist Phillip Dutton and Tokyo 2022 Olympian Doug Payne
In our recent audio interview, the US Eventing Technical Advisor and Chef d’Equipe Bobby Costello told us that “We were just a hair's breadth away from that (gold medal) – there’s zero reason why we can’t do that” “I’m happy to put the pressure on myself, and the riders and the programme, to say that we can definitely do even bigger and better things”
Each rider is listed with one horse, with the exception of Tamie Smith who has three horses nominated. In alphabetical order, combinations of horse and rider are;
- Will Coleman and Off The Record, a 2009 Irish Sport Horse gelding owned by the Off The Record Syndicate
