Ryan Wood, pictured here at Bromont, is continuing his success in the USA
While Australia’s Chris Burton was busy winning at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, another Australian was winning in the USA
Ryan Wood won both the champion and reserve champion titles of the Adequan USEA Gold Cup Advanced Final riding Powell and Woodstock Bennet. The Adequan USEA Gold Cup Series consists of 11 qualifying events around the USA, culminating in the $40,000 final at the 2016 Nutrena USEA American Eventing Championships presented by Land Rover (AEC), which was held this year at the Tryon International Equestrian Center
Ryan and the 10 year old gelding Powell adds this championship title to that of his win at the Jersey Fresh International CCI3* earlier this spring. They were second on 25.4 after the dressage, had a few time penalties on cross-country but moved into the lead and sealed the win with just one pole down in the show jumping to take home the national title and a $20,000 cheque
Ryan’s Bromont CCI3* winner, the nine year old Irish Sport Horse Woodstock Bennet produced one of the quickest trips across country and a fault free show jump round to make it a one-two for Ryan who is certainly making a name for himself on the US eventing circuit this year
