Yasmin Ingham and Banzai Du Loir, CCI4*-L winners at Blenheim International 2021
The USA’s Bruce Davidson, who has four rides in the CCI5* at the 2022 Land Rover Kentucky 3 Day Event, will be the first rider to ride down the centreline at Kentucky Horse Park on Thursday April 28th
The first day of the dressage takes place from 11am -5pm on Thursday 28th and continues on Friday 29th from 11:30am until 4:40pm, with time for lunch breaks and some scheduled entertainment
We’re likely to see some good scores from the start with Will Coleman riding his recent 4* winner Dondante (drawn 2nd) , Boyd Martin riding On Cue (drawn 4th, they took fourth place here last year and winner of the National Championships) and Britain’s Pippa Funnell riding Maja’s Hope (drawn 22nd) all likely to be on the first day
Boyd Martin’s second ride on Tseterleg TSF is drawn 33rd, just ahead of three-time Kentucky winner Michael Jung on fischerChipmunk FRH (36th), Hannah Sue Burnett on Harbour Pilot, New Zealand’s Jonelle Price on McClaren, Lauren Nicholson on Landmark’s Monte Carlo and Will Coleman on his Aachen winner Off The Record, which will certainly be a session that spectators won’t want to miss
The USA’s Tamie Smith and Mai Baum are still on the list, drawn 47th and if they compete they could certainly blow everyone out of the water. We’re more likely to see them do that at Badminton one week later, however we still have a great finale to the dressage in Kentucky with three British ladies making the journey across the water
Blenheim winners Yasmin Ingham and Banzai Du Loir had a great prep run at the Eventing Spring Carnival at Thoresby, taking fourth place in the CCI4*-S and they are drawn 49th, European Individual bronze medallists Sarah Bullimore and Corouet are 53rd and Rolex Grand Slam winner Pippa Funnell will be the last to go on board her 5* debutant Maybach (watch their 4* test at Thoresby here)
For the first time since 2019 spectators will be allowed at the Land Rover Kentucky 3 Day Event (and tickets are still on sale!) so the atmosphere should be electric in the famous stadium that has hosted so many magical moments
Ticket sales are at record levels and an attendance of about 80,000 is expected during the event. In addition to its traditional CCI5*-L, which also serves as the Land Rover/USEF CCI5*-L Eventing National Championship presented by MARS Equestrian™ for U.S. athletes, the event hosts a CCI4*-S, initiated last year.
The event also hosts an FEI-recognized show jumping competition, the $225,000 Kentucky CSI3* Invitational Grand Prix presented by Hagyard Equine Medical Institute. With interest at an all-time high, tickets for the 2023 event will be on sale during this year’s event
