We’ve had our first look at entries for the Cosequin Lexington 4*-S at Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event presented by MARS Equestrian and it is packed with big names from US eventing plus entries from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Brazil.
Defending champion Will Coleman returns
Heading the list of entries is defending champion and U.S. Olympian Will Coleman, currently listed with three horses in Off The Record, Very Dignified and Chin Tonic, who just had an impressive CCI3* run at The Event at TerraNova, where Will outlined more of his plans.
Riders are allowed to compete on only two horses in the CCI4*-S so Will, along with other riders who currently have multiple entries in this division, may change entries as their selection is finalised.
2024 U.S. Olympian Caroline Pamukcu is entered with two horses in HSH Blake and King’s Especiale, 2023 Kentucky 5* champion Tamie Smith (USA) brings forward Kynan and seven-time Olympic veteran Phillip Dutton also has two entries in Denim and Possante.
Phillip’s daughter Olivia, who made her Kentucky debut last year, is also entered riding the thoroughbred Sea of Clouds and the UK-based US rider Hallie Coon has Cute Girl and Lucky Fortuna.
Australian, New Zealand, Canadian and Brazilian entries
Australian rider Ema Klugman has two entered in the 4*, RF Redfern and Chiraz, to complement her Kentucky CCI5* entry Bronte Beach and New Zealand’s US-based Hayley Frielick has two in the 4* in Dunedin Black Watch and Sportsfield Lumiere. Confusingly, there is also a horse called Menlo Park in the 4*, ridden by the USA’s Tracey Bienemann, but it is not the Menlo Park who will be ridden by New Zealand’s Clarke Johnstone in the Kentucky CCI5*!
Canada has two entries in Dana Cook riding FE Quattro and Jessica Phoenix with her TerraNova 4* winner, Freedom GS and Brazil rounds out the internationals with Nilson Moreira Da Silva riding Elmo.
This year the Cosequin Lexington CCI4*-S, which runs as part of the Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event at Kentucky Horse Park from April 24th - 27th 2025 is also US Equestrian Open Eventing Series Qualifier.
