There is plenty of Olympic fervour around at the moment with the Brisbane 2032 “10 Years To Go” celebrations this weekend and Los Angeles 2028 having confirmed its dates.
LA2028 will officially begin on 14th July 2028 and will run until 30th July 2028, with the Paralympic Games following from 15th to 27th August 2028.
It will be the third time the American city has hosted the Olympic Games (1932 and 1984) and its first time as host for the Paralympics.
The LA28 Games will feature more than 3,000 hours of live sport across 800 events in more than 40 sports and 15,000 athletes are expected to compete in both the Olympic and Paralympic Games
The San Fernando Valley will host the Equestrian sports at the Valley Sports Park with temporary facilities for Olympic and Paralympic equestrian disciplines and the shooting competitions.
The state-of-the-art campus at the University of California, Los Angeles will be the LA28 Athletes' Village, hosting more than 15,000 competitors for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Centrally located between Hollywood and Santa Monica, UCLA features premier residence, dining, medical and training facilities.
“LA is an ambitious city of endless possibilities and the Games will reflect our community,” said LA28 Chairperson Casey Wasserman. “Los Angeles will provide the perfect backdrop to host the biggest cultural, sporting and entertainment event in the world."
International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach was in LA for announcement of the dates, saying: "I have been really impressed by the progress and creativity of the LA28 team”
