Erik Duvander (centre) and Jenni Autry (far left) celebrate with Team USA after a hsitoric individual win and the highest result by a US team at Aachen 2021
At the end of each Olympic cycle, changes in eventing team management personnel are not unusual and today it was the turn of management updates from Team USA
Both Erik Duvander, US Performance Director of Eventing with the US Equestrian Federation for the past four years and Jenni Autry, USEF Managing Director of Eventing since 2019 have parted ways with USEF with immediate effect
“Erik Duvander’s contract expired on November 30th 2021, and will not be renewed” commented a USEF spokesperson in the article on Chronicle of the Horse “The program structure and plans for the future will be forthcoming.”
Erik Duvander transitioned from a competitive rider into a coaching role after representing Sweden at the World Championship and Olympic level. Prior to joining USEF in October 2017, he worked with the Japanese, Swedish, and New Zealand Equestrian Teams, leading the New Zealand team to a fourth-place finish at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and a team bronze medal at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games
Duvander’s role with Eventing New Zealand was partly filled by Graeme Thom, who took over the ESNZ high performance eventing manager role in 2017 and recently announced that he would be leaving the position after a successful five-year stint
