The 2021 Monart Sale is on

"He finds the cross country and the galloping really easy because hes bred to do it. He goes back to Glacial Storm and some really nice thoroughbred lines”. Find out more about Monart Graduate Emilie Chandler's Gortfadda Diamond in our Feature Interview here

Ireland’s only elite horse sale, run by riders, for riders, is building on the online success of 2020 with a hybrid virtual sale for 2021.

The eventing auction run by 5* riders Niall Griffin (IRE), Polly Jackson (GB) and Bill Levett (AUS), welcomed vendors and buyers back to Monart on the 2nd and 3rd November, while they welcome a virtual audience for the auction that takes place on the 4th and 5th November.

In the new hybrid format the 2nd and 3rd November allowed all 113 auction lots (view Auction Catalogue here) to be presented for their showcase in front of a live audience, while those unable to travel due to restrictions imposed by the ongoing pandemic will still be able to engage and buy during the solely online auction on the 4th and 5th November.

“The horses will all be vetted on the Monday as usual.  The horses will all be loose jumped in the indoor arena on the Tuesday and Wednesday and will remain onsite across the two days for buyers to discuss the lots with the vendors and get to know their potential purchases.  For those unable to travel to Ireland all the presentation videos will be available to watch, unedited, at the end of each day on the various lot’s profiles” confirmed sale Director, Niall Griffin.

The Monart Sale has gone from strength to strength since its inception in 2010, and attracts riders and buyers, from around the world.  2020 saw record clearance rates and a record high average price.  2021 now boasts a record number of lots, 113 that were whittled down from over 400 applicants, that this year is comprised of all 3-year-old horses.

“It was nice to see that sellers still had confidence in the sale and were very buoyant about the success of last years sale, with the high clearance rate and average price.  We didn’t set out to have a 3-year-old sale, but the quality was there in the 3-year-olds and not so much in the ridden horses.

We want people to come to Monart with the confidence that Niall and I have selected horses that earn the right to be there” says Australian Olympian and Monart Selector Bill Levett, whose own Monart graduate Lates Quin, won the CCI4*-L at Millstreet this year

Monart has attracted a plethora of notable buyers over the years including Olympic Champion Michael Jung (GER), Olympic Gold Medallist Oliver Townend (GBR), Olympic Gold Medallist Astier Nicholas (FRA), 5* Champion Caroline Powell (NZL), Karl and Katlyn Slezak (CAN) as well as UK based Irish international Austin O’Connor.

“We like the depth that goes into selecting the horses, they’ve put a lot of time and effort in to getting a good selection" confirmed Karl and Katlyn Slezak.

"Niall, Polly and Bill have been all over the world and they know what to look for in good horses.  We absolutely love their types.  The ones we’ve bought before have either gone on to be sold to really happy clients or the ones we’ve still got we’re super happy with”,
