William started the year well with a win at Rolex Kentucky. The USA’s Lauren Kieffer (left) and Buck Davidson (right) are in 25th and 5th places on the end of year rankings

William Fox-Pitt, who made it back to the number one spot in May 2014 has finished the year at the top of the FEI Eventing World Rankings with 568 points. This means that Great Britain finishes the year on top of the FEI World Rankings in all three disciplines with William in eventing, Scott Brash the number one in jumping and Charlotte Dujardin the world number one in dressage.

There were no changes from the November rankings in the top 34 riders with New Zealand’s Jonelle Price in second place (480) and Michael Jung in third (445). New Zealand’s Clarke Johnstone made the move of the month, from 45th to 35th thanks to his 3* win at Puhinui which has also helped him regain a place on the New Zealand High Performance squad for 2015.

The highest placed Australian rider is the Badminton 2014 winner Sam Griffiths in ninth place on 366 points and Paul Tapner is in 12th (356) while Stuart Tinney is the highest placed Australian based rider in 20th place on 323 points. The winner of this year’s CCI4* in Adelaide, 22 year old Jess Manson is in 40th place (246).

Further down the list another big mover in December is Australian rider Will Enzinger, from 100th to 55th (205 points) thanks to his win in the CCI3* at Lakes and Craters (Camperdown) and the CCI2* winner there Shenae Lowings, who has had a very consistent year, jumped from 264th to 140th (130 points).

The British rider Nick Gauntlett’s success at Puhinui (NZ) and Goulburn (AUS) on his new Australian horse will hopefully prompt other riders to take a late season visit down under – Nick has moved from 355th to 132nd on, co-incidentally, 132 points. New Zealand riders Fraser King and Sarah Young also benefitted from good results at Puhinui, moving from 470th to 166th (118 points) and 213th to 153rd (125 points) respectively.

In the top 50 there are seven New Zealand riders, 10 British riders, nine Australian riders, six German riders, eight USA, three French, two Belgian, one Canadian, two Dutch and two Irish riders
