While the competitors for the FEI Nations Cup CICO3* at Fontainebleau start the dressage phase on Thursday, the other classes are already underway.
There are three other competitions underway as well as the Nations Cup; a CCI1* for Under 25 riders with 50 competitors, a CCI1* for Over 25 riders (guess Toddy would be in that one if he was competing!) and a CIC2* for all ages!
The CCI1*A for Under 25 riders is currently led by Switzerland’s Linda Nussbaumer riding Tie Break on a score of 41.4. Michael Jung leads the CCI1*B for Over 25 riding fischerincantas, his CCI1* winner at Le Lion d’Angers in 2015.
Michael doesn’t have it all his way however with Australia’s Chris Burton ahead of Michael in the CCI2*. Chris is currently in the lead with a score of 35.2 riding Polystar I, an 11 year old gelding previously ridden by Sweden’s Michaela Sandberg, ahead of Michael riding Lennox 364, a combination that was second here in the CCI1* last year, on a score of 36.7. Sweden’s Sara Algotsson Ostholt is in third place on Wega (37). This is a big class of 130 competitors so dressage continues on Thursday and Friday
The CICO3* first horse inspection has taken place and teams declared. In addition to the already declared Australian team, Great Britain will field an all-female quartet in Laura Collett with Pamero 4, Dani Evans and Smart Time, Gemma Tattersall on Quicklook V and Izzy Taylor riding Allercombe Ellie
Clare Abbott riding Euro Prince, Cathal Daniels riding Rioghan Rua, Jonty Evans riding Cooley Rorkes Drift and Austin O’Connor riding Kilpatrick Knight are the team declared by Ireland. Both Cathal and Jonty competed on the winning Boekelo Nations Cup team last year.
French team rider Arnaud Boiteau kicks off the dressage phase for the CICO3* on Thursday at 13:30
