After his retirement from eventing, King Solomon continued to compete and enjoy success in the dressage arena ridden by Mary's friend Paula Lee after until 2011. Sadly, due to complications caused by lymphangitis, the decision was made to have him put to sleep peacefully at Paula’s home on the 20th September.
According to Horse & Hound, Paula said
“He will be very much missed and I can’t thank Mary enough for giving him to me,”
Mary King added "Dear Solly. I won my first Olympic medal with him and he was the first horse I had to be so consistent [at top level]."
