In 2016 Badminton Horse Trials celebrates 25 years of partnership with Mitsubishi Motors in the UK. To mark the special anniversary two replica rocking horses based on the Duke of Beaufort’s favourite horse Countryman III, whom he competed at Badminton in 1957, 1958 and in 1959, are being created by the renowned Stevenson Brothers.
One of the commemorative rocking horses will be presented to His Grace in his home, Badminton House during the 2016 event and the other will be stabled at Mitsubishi Motors head office in nearby Cirencester
The Stevenson brothers are famous for their very special handmade rocking horses, many of which are special limited editions. We couldn’t resist the video we found on YouTube for the Winston Churchill rocking horse shown at Badminton in 2011 – the rocking horse with a humidor up its bottom (but we can't help wondering where the Pol Roger champagne goes?)
