John-Paul Sheffield has won the British Eventing 2020 Foundation Points League and Jellyon, ridden by Katie Magee takes the Horse Foundation Points League. BE Foundation Points are awarded at BE90, BE100 and BE105 level and these leagues are for riders and horses earning points at these levels throughout the season.

 

Rider 

Ending the season on a total of 340 points, the 2020 Eco Voltz Foundation Points League trophy is this year won by John-Paul (JP) Sheffield. 

Collecting Foundation Points across 31 events this season, John-Paul secured a commanding lead in the 2020 Foundation Points league thanks to an incredible 14 wins and a further 15 top five placings at BE90 and BE100 level.  

John-Paul took over the ride on some of Willa Newton’s young horses after she broke her hip mid-year, producing several wins and placings including third place on Quality Time in the British Eventing 5-Year-Old Championship at Oasby (2)

“JP has really done all the hard work with them I have to say” says Willa.

Andrew Downes takes second place on 225 points, winning five of his 57 starts at BE90 and BE100 level this year, with Katie Magee completing the top three on 209 foundation points. Katie enjoyed a successful season with 14 top five placings including five wins. 

 

Horse 

In the Horse Foundation Points League, Jellyon, ridden by Katie Magee and owned by Katie, Ian Woodhead and Heidi Woodhead, collected a total of 96 Foundation Points to lift the 2020 trophy. The six-year-old gelding boasted an impressive season of results - winning four classes at Kelsall Hill (2)Aske Horse Trials , Richmond (2)  and Bishop Burton (2), placing in the top five at all seven of his BE100 starts this season.  

“Jelly has been brilliant this year, he was pretty green in the spring when we got him, and he’s proved very classy in all three phases. He arrived as a bit of a cheer up for us when I had to retire my top horse Dollarney due to injury and he’s certainly done just that” says Katie

Percivals Rebel ends the season in second place on 80 Foundation Points. The 12-year-old gelding enjoyed two wins and five top ten placings this season under owner-rider Rebecca Jessett. Just two points behind, six-year-old Jack Daniels L Z finished in the top three on 78 points, thanks to two wins and four top five placings with rider Nicola Wilson, for owners Milnes Coates and Penny Marriner.
