Denman Horse Trials 2024 – order or view XC Videos here
Olivia Barton is Australia’s top ranked rider at the moment after a very successful start to the 2024 season and she continued her winning ways at Denman Horse Trials last weekend, winning the Marsh Carney Saddlery CCN1* on board Dyrring Park Corileck.
The mild winter weather in northern NSW gives riders the perfect opportunity to get out and about at a time when there is not much happening in Victoria or southern NSW. For amateur riders, Denman is a great social occasion (Saturday night was spent watching Aachen cross country on a big screen in front of the annual bonfire) as well as a chance to get the horses out competing from EvA50 levels up. And for the top-level riders such as Olivia, it is a good opportunity to take the younger horses out in the relaxed and friendly atmosphere at Denman
But Olivia and Dyrring Park Corileck, a six-year-old warmblood gelding, who won on a score of 34.40 only just pipped junior rider Lydia Proctor riding Sandhills Style, who finished in second place on 35.40 while Brooke Chapman riding Another Foxy Lady moved up from 13th place after dressage to take third place on their dressage score of 35.90.
Lydia had a good lead in the dressage on Saturday with the only sub-30 score of 27.0 but 0.4 time penalties in the showjumping and eight time penalties on cross country opened the door for Olivia, who finished on her dressage score.
