Crisp mornings but beautiful days greeted the riders at Tamworth International CCN One Day in northern NSW last weekend where Andrew Barnett and Go Tosca took the Double R CCN4* ahead of Emma Mason and Tiani Stewart
Andrew laid down a very impressive dressage score of 21.6 then added 16.5 time penalties around the cross country and dropped just one pole in the show jumping to finish on 44, a whopping 23 penalties ahead of Emma riding KPH Kingfisher.
Andrew had to settle for second place in the Britt Grovenor Photography CCN3*-S which was won by Shane Rose riding the off the track thoroughbred The Bandit. Shane finished on his dressage score of 33.20, the only combination to complete cross country under time, but Andrew was not far behind on Oscar Park Deluge (33.90) while Olivia Barton took third on APH Sudoku (37) after leading the dressage and show jumping phases.
However, Olivia claimed a win in the Gundy Park Equine CCN2*-S on APH Sebastian, in a tight finish with just 0.1 separating Olivia’s winning score of 31.70 and Queensland’s Emma West riding Thymes Up in second place on 31.80.
The close scores continued in the top three of the Roberts Mechanical CCN1*-S with Charlie Richardson taking the win riding Bee Cool on 27.6 while second and third placed Stephanie Commens and Rachael Temm took second and third on the same score of 27.8.
The Rose family also had two wins in the EvA95 sections with Shane’s wife Niki taking the Phased Electrical EvA95 Open A and Stance EvA Open B classes riding Dreamrush (on a dream finishing score of 16.6) and Vienna Dream (29.6).
It was another fabulous weekend of winter eventing at the Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre, and we now head a little further north for some more sunshine (please!) at Fig Tree Pocket near Brisbane, QLD for their CCI One Day Event on 22nd & 23rd July
But we’ll be back with some winners’ cross country videos from Tamworth CCN very soon!
