Young eventing riders from Victoria made their long journey worthwhile, winning the Teams Eventing Competition at the 2024 Marcus Oldham Australian Interschool Championships, hosted by Equestrian Queensland.
Held at the Australian Equine and Livestock Centre (AELEC) in Tamworth, NSW, the eventing competition took place from Thursday 19th - Saturday 20th September with teams and individuals taking part at EvA80, EvA95, CCN1* and CCN2* levels.
Team Victoria took the overall team Championship win on a total score of 105, just ahead of NSW on 103 points and Queensland in third on 97 points.
Avril Charman riding Annabella, winner of the CCN2*, Tayla Anderson riding Rimondi D, winner of the EvA95, Abigail Fosnaugh riding Monahan Vagabond, winner of the EvA80 and Theo Michalczyk riding Fort Wirth, second in the CCN1* helped Victoria take the win with Abigail also taking Class Champion for Closest to Optimum Time on cross country.
Lydia Proctor riding Sandhills Style, was the star for NSW, winning the CCN1* while Sarah Willmott riding APH Florance took second place in the CCN2*, Zara Villacorta riding Celtic Frolic took second in the EvA80 and Charlie Ward riding Davala Park Picolino took third place in the CCN1*.
Queensland’s top scorer was Ashlee Lowe riding Jackpot Jimm, taking third in the CCN2*, joined by Summer Jacob riding Calveston Prince Elliot, fourth in the CCN1*, Lola Berriman riding Dragon Hawk, fourth in the EvA80 and Geneva Searle riding Grey Opinion, seventh in the CCN1*.
Sophie Fosnaugh riding Champagne Fizz (VIC) and Ella Beissel riding Fiction took second and third places in the EvA95 and Meg Fowler riding Breezewater Mr Brown (WA) took third in the EvA80.
