Chris and Bek are hoping for a white Christmas
It’s been a busy year for Chris Burton and his team and at the moment Chris and his partner Bek Thompson are enjoying a few days of well deserved R & R in Byron Bay before heading back to the UK where they are hoping to enjoy a white Christmas before getting stuck into working horses in a British winter.
Chris’s eventing season started off in March at Tweseldown, Hampshire, UK and finished off at Adelaide, South Australia. Over a period of eight months he rode at 28 events on 14 different horses. Those figures don’t, of course, include the days where he took horses to dressage or show jumping competitions.
Chris and Leilani on their way to a win at Aachen
During his season Chris clocked up eight wins at various levels including the Aachen CICO3* with Holstein Park Leilani, the CIC3* at Hartpury with Tempranillo and of course his recent Adelaide CCI4* win riding TS Jamaimo. His best finishing score across the board was achieved on Wild Duchess who he rode to a win in the CIC* at the South of England event and just to make the rest of us feel better he did finish with an E next to his name a couple of times!
Tempranillo won the CIC3* for Chris at Hartpury
Chris, who has now been based in UK for a couple of years, seems happy with his busy life and we caught up with him recently at Canberra, during one of the many clinics he has been doing whilst being in Australia, to find out what his plans were for next year.
