As we head towards the last leg of the FEI Classics Series for 2015 at the Australian International 3 Day Event, things are already gearing up for next year and before you know it, we’ll be back in Kentucky!
Tickets for the Rolex Kentucky 3 Day Event, to be held from 28th April – 1st May 2016 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, go on sale today November 2nd from 9am Eastern US Standard Time and the organisers are expecting sales to be strong
The 2016 event will be one of the official United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Selection Trials which determine the riders and horses to compete on the U.S. Eventing Team at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in August.
It is also expected that many European-based competitors will make the trip in order to try and secure team selection for their country and no doubt the organisers are hoping that defending champion Michael Jung will return. Michael also won the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials in 2015, giving him the first leg of a potential Rolex Grand Slam if he can follow it up in 2016 with another win in Kentucky and a win at Badminton
Last year the event attracted more than 75,000 attendees over the four days of competition with 31,000-plus spectators lining the track on cross country day
