For the second year running the Brightwells Blenheim Elite Event Horse Auction was held in conjunction with the Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials, with the auction taking place on the afternoon of Friday 18th September
The sale catalogued 21 horses but unfortunately because of vetting and other complications, only 15 were offered for sale.
The top price paid was £23,000 [€31,681 Euros], for Lot 11, a four year old son of Ramiro B, Be Real consigned from Ireland. The bay gelding had competed successfully at training shows and was sold to American US eventer Jennifer McFall, who was competing at Blenheim in the CCI3*
Young British rider Sam Ecroyd paid the next highest price of £15,000 [€20,661 Euros] for Lot 2, Goteus S, a four year old gelding by Ustinov that had been selected in Holland while £15,000 was also reached for Lot 17 Evieta P, a 6 year old Keur mare by Up To Date, also sold to a client in the UK.
Six of the horses on offer sold to average £13,083 [€18,021 Euros] which Brightwells say was ‘a little disappointing following last year’s event’ although ‘many horses were trial ridden and the support from riders, owners and prospective purchasers was exciting’
