Oliver Townend started the year as he intended to go on - winning at Burnham Market
Britain’s Oliver Townend has taken his third title in a row as the Leading Rider in the UK with an impressive total of 2,380 British Eventing points, 1,085 points ahead of the closest rider, New Zealand’s Andrew Nicolson on 1,295.
Oliver is a prolific competitor across the levels and has had over 250 national and international starts this season with over 30 wins. He started the year strongly with wins at Burnham Market and Belton International, was crowned the British Open Champion at The Festival of British Eventing and even had a recent win in the CIC3* on a flying visit to Adelaide.
Andrew Nicholson’s point total was given a boost with two top ten finishes at the Luhmühlen CCI4* in Germany, second place at the Blenheim Palace International CCI3* and a win in the Advanced class at Chatsworth on Teseo
Third place in the 2016 table goes to the leading lady, Izzy Taylor, on a total of 1,239 points, helped by her third place at the FEI World Breeding Championships for Young Horses in the six year old class and top ten finish in the Boekelo CCI3* in the Netherlands.
