French eventing team for Tokyo 2020 announced

Updated 10th July 2021

Thibaut Vallette, a member of the team that won Olympic gold at Rio 2016 with Qing du Briot, the combination that also won individual and team bronze at the European Championships at Blair Castle, are out of contention for Tokyo 2020

Thibaut has withdrawn Qing du Briot as the horse ‘has a slight tenderness in one foot’ says Thibaut on his social media “For the team and out of respect for Qing, we cannot take the risk of going to the Games with a horse that is not at 100% of its capacity”

“It's a big disappointment, as finishing on this Olympic deadline with our sixth selection would have been a great end of career for this horse. We will take care of him”

Thibaut’s place will be taken by Christopher Six & Totem de Brecey

“I leave my place to a great teammate, Christo who deserves to go and defend the colors of France”
