Equestrians around the world have paid tribute to Tiggy Hancock on the weekend of her funeral
Tiggy, a 15-year-old member of Ireland's Pony High-Performance Eventing Programme suffered fatal injuries at a squad training event in Ireland on June 16th. She was taken to Crumlin Children’s Hospital following the accident but was unable to be saved
The talented young rider began eventing in 2018 and, after a run of impressive performances in 2019, was selected to represent Ireland at the FEI European Pony Championships in Poland, where she was part of the bronze-winning team
Tiggy’s mother thanked the equestrian community for their support saying “Please remember to look up and laugh and live through these difficult days as she would hate to see you sad” and asking that riders wear yellow, Tiggy’s favourite colour, in her memory this weekend
The equestrian community responded with riders at the CCI5* in Luhmuhlen wearing yellow bows on their lapels, Irish show jumping riders on the Global Champions Tour and jockeys at Royal Ascot all wearing yellow armbands
RIP Tiggy
