Held at the Lincolnshire Showgrounds in March each year, this early season event has a new name in 2025 with the Riseholm College Lincoln Horse Trials (previously known as the Lincolnshire Horse Trials) taking place from Friday 14th – Sunday 16th March 2025.
The change of name reflects the input from Riseholm College’s staff and students who play a large part in running the event as the College’s equine students gain invaluable experience by providing support across the event, from stewarding to dressage writing, and score collecting to course building.
Riseholme College is of course part of Bishop Burton College in East Yorkshire, which also hosts two British Eventing competitions each year – Bishop Burton International, incorporating the British Championships for Young Rider CCI2*-L and Junior Rider CCI2*-L (24th – 27th July) and Bishop Burton (2) Horse Trials (27th & 28th September).
The 2025 Riseholm College Lincoln Horse Trials will run national classes from BE100 to Advanced Intermediate over the three days, giving competitors at all levels the chance to get an early season run across the Joe Weller designed cross country courses.
Friday: Intermediate, Advanced Intermediate, Open Intermediate, BE100, BE100 Open
Saturday: Novice, Open Novice, Pony Trial
Sunday: Intermediate, Open Intermediate, Novice, Open Novice and Intermediate Novice
Riders come from all around the country with one of last year’s winners, Emily Young-Jamieson telling us that “Although Lincoln is a four-hour drive from my Wiltshire base, it is a good preparatory run as the cross-country courses offer a good variety of questions whilst enabling confidence”
Local rider Ros Canter is also one of the regulars each year at this venue, giving spectators a chance to watch the Olympic gold medallist alongside the many other top eventing combinations.
Entries open today, Monday 3rd February 2025 with a Ballot date of 18th February.
