Poland is becoming a lucky country for British riders with Team GB taking gold there in the FEI European Championships in Strzegom last year and now Oliver Townend has returned to scoop the generous prize pool at the Equestrian Festival Baborówko
The four-day eventing schedule at Baborówko, from 24th to 27th of May 2018 included a CIC3*, CIC2*, CIC1* and CICYH1* and had on offer the highest total amount of prize money in the history of Polish eventing
Thanks to the event patron, Mr. Roman Roszkiewicz, the riders had the opportunity to compete for the total prize of 100.000 EUR with Oliver taking home 25,000 EUR as the CIC3* winner. On board the 12 year old Cillnabradden Evo, recent runner-up at the Event Rider masters CIC3* at Wiesbaden, Oliver led from pillar to post, adding nothing to his dressage score of 25.7.
Second place went to Andreas Dibowski of Germany (above) with FRH Corrida and third place was taken by France's Maxime Livio (below) aboard Pica d’Or
New Zealand’s Tim Price also made the journey from England but unfortunately parted company from Pats Jester on cross country and Australia’s Katja Weimann, currently based in Germany, finished just out of the money in 15th place on BP Escapade
Mateusz Kiempa (POL) won the CIC2*, the prize of Kuhn, aboard Libertina with second place going to Senne Vervaecke (BEL) riding Jeno, and third place to Elmar Lesch (GER) and Rough Diamond.
The German rider Stephanie Bohe won the CICYH1* competition for 6-year-old horses aboard Romance P. Second place went to Maxime Livio (FRA) with Clotaire de Ferivel, and third to Pauline Wieczorek (POL) with Czacza
