Sandra Auffarth's Tokyo horse Viamant Du Matz has bounced back from his blip there with a 4*-L win at Pratoni Del Vivaro
Sandra Auffarth has taken the last European CCI4*-L of the year by winning at Pratoni Del Vivaro in Italy
Riding her Tokyo 2020 horse Viamant Du Matz, Sandra led from pillar to post to finish on her dressage score of 27.5 to win ahead of France’s Maxime Livio riding Carouza Bois Marotin and Tim Price on board Spartaco, with Tim and Maxime having done a quick turn-around from a successful week at Les Etoiles de Pau
Australia’s Andrew Hoy finished second and third in the CCI3*-L riding two of his younger horses – Bloom Des Hauts Crets and Creevagh Cooley – behind the man he bought the superstar Vassily De Lassos from, Tom Carlile, the winner of this class riding Damour Du Domaine
Team Hoy’s last European jaunt of the season is now over after competing at Saint Quentin (FRA) CCI3*-S, won by the 10-year-old mare Bloom Des Hauts Crets, and Montelibretti (ITA) CCI3*-S where Bloom Des Hauts Crets finished third.
Andrew had a very good cross country on Creevagh Cooley at Montelibretti and was in fourth place after cross country but a ‘miscommunication’ in the show jumping left Andrew on the floor, which shows that it can happen to even the best!
Creevagh Cooley obviously had totally forgotten about it by the following weekend, jumping clear around the show jumping track at Pratoni Del Vivaro – the venue near Rome for next year’s World Equestrian Games – for third place
